Olive Oil: Choosing a Healthy Oil

This is what I cook and prepare with for the most part: Olive Oil, for taste and definitely for health benefits. The article is reasonable but I'm going to help you out.

Fake Olive Oil brands, meaning they don't meet extra virgin olive oil standards and may have other oils, additives, chemicals and flavorings: Bertolli (this makes me sad we use to cook with it regularly), Carapelli, Colavita (also one we use to use some years back), Filippo Berio, Mazzola, Mezzetta, Newman's Own, Safeway, Star and Whole Foods.

Olive Oils that meet the set standards for being true extra virgin olive oil: Corto Olive, California Olive Ranch, Kirkland Organic, Lucero (Ascolano), McEvoy Ranch Organic, Pompeian, Trader Joe's California Estate. I'm sure there are others. One of the points in the article was that, through testing, many of the California olive oils exceeded the Italian brands in quality. Something to think on.

I'm sure there are other olive oils that meet the standard, but you'll have to research that on your own. I'm tired of corruption in the food process as a whole. I want what you advertise it to be. I don't want a bunch of filler garbage: soy, corn, syrups, sugars, sodium, preservatives and on and on. I want to prepare healthy food--when you lie or mislead me you put roadblocks in my way to doing that which means you go on the blacklist.

Too bad Bertolli. Too bad Colavita. Too bad Mezzetta. Shame on you Whole Foods...seriously.

Happy, healthy cooking, friends!
